Guinness is a stunning 2-year-old German Shepherd with a heart big enough to light up an entire room — especially if that room has kids in it. His story, though, is heartbreaking. After being happily adopted, his person had to leave the country just two weeks later, and Guinness was returned. In that short time he formed an unbreakable bond with a 9-year-old boy — making the loss all the more devastating. Back at the shelter, Guinness shut down completely, retreating to the back of his kennel. Volunteers rushed to get him into a temporary foster, and for a little while, he was safe. But now he’s heading back to the municipal shelter, where the stress is already taking a toll.
