Orla is a beautiful brindle Irish Greyhound with a playful streak and a love for zoomies. At 60 pounds, she’s a head-turner with big brown eyes and a soft coat, but it’s her personality that truly shines. While she’s sweet with people and enjoys affection, she’s not the cuddly type—she prefers to bond on her own terms. Once she warms up, though, she loves romping around, playing, and lounging with her human friends.

Like many Greyhounds, Orla has a strong prey drive, meaning she’s not suited for a home with small animals, including cats and little dogs. She also has a habit of guarding her favorite squeaky toys, so her future family will need to work with her on this behavior. Because of this, she’d thrive in an adults-only home with a securely fenced yard where she can enjoy her zoomies without distractions. Orla prefers to be the only pet, as she’s mostly indifferent to other dogs and doesn’t seek out canine friendships.

She’s great on a leash and loves brisk walks, preferring to keep moving rather than stopping to sniff. She enjoys car rides, eagerly watching the world go by from the window. Orla is also crate-trained and will happily go inside in exchange for a treat.

What’s an Irish Greyhound?

Irish Greyhounds, like Orla, are just Greyhounds that were bred and raised in Ireland—most commonly for racing. The main difference between an Irish Greyhound and an American one is their background and breeding history. Ireland has a strong Greyhound racing culture, and many retired racers like Orla are sent to adoption programs in the U.S. after their careers. They tend to be well-socialized with people but may need time to adjust to life as a pet.

If you’re looking for a loyal, athletic, and playful dog who will bring energy and entertainment into your life, Orla might be the perfect fit. She’s currently in Woodinville, WA, waiting for her forever home!
