Nakita had a home… and then, through no fault of her own, she lost it.
Returned just days after adoption due to landlord issues, this sweet girl is back at the shelter—confused, a little shy, but still holding onto hope that her real forever family is out there. At around 2 years old, this beautiful shepherd mix (possibly a Shepsky!) is ready to leave the shelter behind for good.
Why Nakita Feels So Special
🐾 Around 2 years old, lean and long-legged
🎨 Stunning tri-color coat (black, white, tan) with warm brown eyes
💛 Shy at first, then quickly becomes your best friend
🚶♀️ Walks well on leash (still learning, a little zig-zaggy!)
🧠 Smart and working on “sit”
🐾 Gentle, affectionate, and eager to please
Her Personality
Nakita is one of those dogs who just needs a moment.
The shelter environment has been a lot for her—especially after briefly having a home—but once she settles, her true personality shines through. She warms up quickly into a loving, affectionate companion who wants nothing more than to be close to her person.
She enjoys being petted, responds to gentle attention, and carries a soft, lovable energy that makes people fall for her fast. There’s a sweetness in her demeanor that feels genuine and steady.
🐾 Shy but warms up quickly
🐾 Gentle and affectionate
🐾 Eager to please
🐾 Smart and learning
🐾 Soft, loving presence
The “Second Chance” Sweet Spot
Nakita isn’t starting from zero—she just needs a reset.
She’s already shown that she can be a wonderful companion in a home. With a little patience and consistency, she’ll regain her confidence and settle into family life beautifully.
Sometimes, the dogs who’ve had their hearts disrupted are the ones who love the deepest.
What She’s Looking For
✔️ A patient, understanding home to help her settle in
✔️ Gentle guidance as she continues learning leash skills and commands
✔️ A loving family ready to give her stability and reassurance
✔️ A calm environment where she can decompress and feel safe
✔️ A true forever commitment
Heart of Nakita
Nakita doesn’t understand why she’s back—but she hasn’t given up.
She’s still wagging, still trusting, still ready to love with her whole heart.
This time, she just needs it to be forever.
