Please say hello to Momo! He is a 4-year-old Boxer/Pitbull mix who is house, and crate trained, neutered, current on his vaccines, and is being fostered in Yelm, WA.

Momo is best described as dog selective and needs very slow greetings, so he has time to feel comfortable around new dogs. He is also very pushy with his sniffing during greetings. He would do well in a home with another friendly and tolerant dog that loves to play. Momo is also good with cats after slow introductions. Momo loves people and has tested well with kids as young as 4 years old, though his playfulness may be a bit much for less dog-savvy kids.

Momo needs some work on his leash manners as he is a strong puller, but he has been improving. He’s not super fond of having his nails trimmed, but with some consistency, we think he’ll figure out it’s not so bad. He does tolerate baths nicely though! Momo gets pretty excited when he sees people and needs to be reminded not to jump up on them; he also likes to let his foster family know when someone is at the door by letting out some barks, but he responds to the “quiet” command.

Please know that Momo is very smart, and because he is food motivated and strives to please his people, we are already seeing improvements. By the way, he takes treats very gently. We just know that with time and patience, he’ll catch on to anything thrown his way.

Momo has picked up very quickly on the house rules in his foster home and follows them with no issues at all. He is respectful of thresholds and waits patiently until he is released to move forward, so not much of a flight risk with this boy. Momo has learned the commands sit, stay, down, up, off, paw, crate, and come. He shows minimal destructive chewing behaviors and leaves personal items like shoes and kids toys alone.

Momo’s absolute favorite activity is cuddling on the couch with his people; he also gives the gentlest of kisses. Momo enjoys walks and playing a good game of tug or fetch too. Overall, he’s got a fairly medium level of energy.

Momo will be a great addition to a family who is looking for a playful pup who is also a cuddle buddy.
