Special Adoption Considerations: Mila is heartworm positive and is participating in a groundbreaking study at our South Carolina Rescue Campus, which may influence future treatments across the U.S. Dogs in the study follow a 2-shot or 3-shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols. Four weeks after their final injection, they are eligible for transport to the DC area for foster or adoptive care. Post-treatment, a free follow-up heartworm test will be arranged after 6 months, with a second test at 9 months. For more details about this treatment and Mila’s current phase in the study, please email the adoption coordinator (contact information below).
Mila’s Wish: Mila, with her piercing blue eyes, is eager to find a loving home. She was brought to the shelter through no fault of her own and dreams of long walks, park romps, and learning new tricks at dog school. She seeks a family to love and protect her, offering in return loyal companionship and endless joy.
Foster Updates: We will provide more insights into Mila’s personality and behavior once she has spent time in the DC area with her foster family.
Adoption Info: The adoption fee is $475, covering routine vetting, vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. Interested parties should fill out the Adoption Questionnaire at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog.
