HANDSOME LUKE HAS BEEN WAITING PATIENTLY FOR HIS FOREVER HOME! IS IT YOURS? This boy is wonderful- he’s a gem of a gentleman- a medium energy love who is GREAT with kids! PICK HIM! This 1.5 year old hunky husky is dog-friendly and stunning! He weighs right around 50 lbs. Luke was rescued right in the nick of time before being euthanized due to population overcrowding at a shelter in Southern California.
He’s been an absolute dream to have in rescue but we want him to have a forever family to call his own. When we first sprung him out of the shelter, he was full of puppy energy. But as he settled in with his new foster and integrated in with her pack, he started to relax and gain confidence. Now he snuggles up for cuddles and kisses, and everyday seems to try and say “thank your for rescuing me!” He enjoys running around the backyard with his furry pals and genuinely wants to please (which can be rare for a husky!).
He gets along very well with other dogs but we haven’t tested him directly with cats. He seems to have at least a mild prey instinct though so the safest bet is a home without them unless the owner is able to separate and savvy about managing canine and feline integration. Luke is not much of a barker, but will let out the occasional howl when fire trucks or ambulances pass by. He is housebroken with no accidents. He is however an opportunist so don’t leave your steak on the table or your chicken bones in the trash can unmonitored, because Luke does love to eat!
We don’t have much information on Luke’s life before the shelter but we suspect he was an outdoor-only dog, as many are in Southern California. He never learned to jump on the bed or cuddle. He never had grass to potty on, and only ever had concrete, so he never even learned to hike his leg. But his his foster family has made up for lost time by showing Luke these things. They have worked diligently with him on showing him puppy manners. He has mastered crate training! He’s grown into an amazing housemate and companion but he does still need to work a bit on his leash pulling. If you are interested in learning more about Luke, please visit our website and fill out an application. We can facilitate a video meet and greet and have you chat with his foster who knows him best! Transport available anywhere in the US for the right adopter who can give him the love and life that he deserves.
