Luke came to the shelter just the morning of when Rocky discovered him. He was dropped off under heartbreaking circumstances. Security footage showed someone pulling around the back of the building and leaving him in an unauthorized area – an abandonment rather than a proper surrender. We don’t yet know whether this was his actual owner. When staff found him, he looked so sad. He arrived wearing a little sweater, and when staff gently lifted it to check his condition, it was clear he hadn’t been getting the care he deserves. Luke’s name doesn’t come from a tag or previous owner – it’s a nickname Rocky chooses to honor a fan’s beloved soul dog.
Despite the rough start, Luke is now safe at the shelter. After a much needed health evaluation, Luke is at a poor body score of 2, emaciated, a laceration discovered under the folds of his face, and much more. Luke will desperately need help, potentially with a rescue organization.
