Legoas has been at our shelter FOREVER! The reason? He is way too smart! Like “alien smart”… smart enough to outsmart most (all) novice handlers. He is a dream dog for anyone seeking a dog to compete with… in anything… he will WIN IT ALL. He will jump the highest, run the fastest, do your taxes the most accurate… this boy has unlimited potential. Legolas went to training for a YEAR with professional trainers well known for turning out the industries top police dogs.
They loved him and he fit right in (except for his yellow coat, that stood out pretty badly). Unfortunately he isn’t a German Shepherd and although he loved hanging out there, eventually was sent back to the shelter where he remains…. too smart. In fact he came back even smarter after this training. He is dog friendly and doesn’t judge others for not knowing as much as him.
He loves to romp and play with all friendly dogs. He just needs a human handler who can challenge him, keep him thinking, and connect with him on his own elevated level. A perfect day for Legolas would be a brisk morning walk in heel (working) position.
A low-calorie breakfast served in a level 10,000 dog food puzzle while he relaxes in his crate would be perfect while his owner was away. In the evening some sort of sport… a jog, narcotics detection practice, swimming, or perhaps a marathon (or two). Finally, relaxing next to his person and watching TV would round out Legolas’ perfect day.
