In March 2022 we went to the Animal Care Centers of NYC and met Edie (fka Edith). We fell in love with her and decided to pick her up after she got spayed, unfortunately she got an upper respiratory infection so she didn’t get her spay.

We still went and got Edie, noticing she had a little bit of drip from her lady bits, but after being checked by our vet at VCA Darien our worst fear was confirmed – Edie had pyometra, an infection of the uterus that can be deadly if not treated immediately.

Within an hour, she was in lifesaving surgery where they pulled out a 4.3 POUND infected mass. (By comparison, a healthy canine uterus weighs 2 to 4 OUNCES.) When we picked up Edie, she was an entirely different dog – skinny but happy, with a light in her eyes and and a pep in her step that was entirely new. Her personality blossomed overnight and we could tell she was feeling like a new dog thanks to the amazing vets!

She was labelled as a stray and was at Animal Care Centers for less than a month before we picked her up. We don’t know much more about her life before that point but we suspect she was dumped after breeding or was used as a breeding dog and then dumped. She has been staying at our Lucky Dog Refuge facility in Stamford, CT for about 6 months.

Edie is ready to find her furever home! After a pretty stressful first few days with us getting through emergency surgery, Edie is now healed and healthy enough for a family of her own! She needs to be the only dog in the home.

This little bulldog mix is sweet as can be and loves people of all ages. Edie is fully vetted, about 2-4 years old and ready to be your best friend!
