Dixie is just around a year old, and is thought to be an Australian Cattle dog/Shepherd mix. She spent the first two week at Animal Friends of the Valleys in a nervous state, keeping to herself tucked away in the corner of her kennels. When Rocky came across her at the shelter, he initially remarked that she reminded him of Pumpkin, which is interesting because she was actually an owner turn in from the reservation just like him, and Animal Control seized her as the family had too many dogs on the property.
At first, they thought that she may have been pregnant, but when closely examined her again, it was determined she wasn’t and she possibly could have had a litter prior. The shelter team have her paired with another sociable dog to try and get her out of her shell and are working with her one on one.
