Dawn is looking to start a new day in a forever home that is experienced building trust with very shy dogs and has the patience to bond with her at her pace. This sweet girl came into the shelter terrified but has calmed with time, and recently made a big breakthrough by seeking out gentle pets and face nuzzles from volunteers. She has started to open her heart to trusted humans and we can see that inside this shy girl, a total love bug is waiting to come out and cuddle.
Her ideal home would be adults-only and fairly quiet with a secure yard and another friendly dog companion to help build her confidence. Dawn does walk on leash but she can get overwhelmed by a lot of activity or noise, so building trust with her family in the controlled setting of a secure yard would be ideal before venturing out on walks.
Dawn loves to play with other respectful dogs her size and smaller, happily engaging in chase games, so a home with a friendly compatible dog could help with her socialization as well as exercise and companionship until she bonds with her people and is ready to start taking leashed walks. Dawn arrived at the shelter filthy and matted, but after grooming is just gorgeous – she will need regular brushing and occasional grooming to feel her best.
