After being rescued as a frightened stray with painful injuries, Cindy found the forever home she always deserved.
Just like her namesake from The Grinch, little Cindy (Lou Who) has a heart full of sweetness despite a rough start. Cindy arrived at the shelter as a stray after being spotted running loose near a local dog park. When animal control brought her in, she was heavily matted, filthy, and sporting a festive green, red, and white Grinch Christmas sweater.
Understandably, Cindy was very overwhelmed by her new surroundings at first. She needed to be handled with gentle caution, and our staff used a cozy towel to help her feel secure and swaddled during her intake. But despite her fear, Cindy’s true colors quickly shined through: she is incredibly mild-mannered, well-tempered, and an absolute sweetheart.
She has literally walked a tough road to get here. During her health check, the medical team discovered that her front paw pad was rubbed completely raw, and her back paws were also showing significant wear and tear. After a much-needed (and very brave!) grooming session, it became clear that all four of her paws had suffered from wandering the streets for an extended time, likely on hot concrete. However, we may never know exactly why one of her paws suffered more than the other paw pads. The staff wrapped this front paw in order to help her heal quickly, however she needs medical attention.
The good news? Cindy is safe now. Her paws have been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. She was an absolute superstar for her grooming, which revealed the absolutely adorable, fluffy girl hiding underneath all those mats! She also seems to do great with other dogs.
Thanks to Rocky, Cindy was pulled from the shelter, where she will be fully vetted, and afterwards will be resting comfortably and healing at a local daycare facility until she’s ready. Cindy is finally safe, but her journey isn’t over yet. She is looking for a patient, loving forever home where she can rest her tired paws, feel secure, and finally be spoiled the way she deserves.
