Hi there! My name is Buttercream, and I’m a timid 3-year-old Aussie Doodle. I’m a small girl, weighing in at just 17 lbs, but I’ve got a lot of heart—even if I’m still learning to share it.

I’m a little on the shy side and can be pretty cautious, especially around new people and places. The world can feel a bit overwhelming for me, so I tend to get startled easily. Loud noises, sudden movements, and too much commotion can make me nervous, but I’m working on it! I have made a tremendous amount of progress in my foster home and they are so excited to see me learn to dog. I have even shown them my silly prancing dance when I get excited to see my trusted people and the neighbors dogs – I’m a little fancy sometimes – hee hee!

At home, I feel safest in my crate. It’s my little sanctuary where I can relax and feel secure. I also LOVE our fenced backyard; it’s one of the few places where I really let loose and enjoy running around, especially with the other dogs in my foster home. I love chasing a tennis ball in the yard and love doing zoomies! The other dogs are doing a good job helping me get on a routine and being my zoomie buddy. It would be nice to have another dog in my forever home to show me the ropes and teach me to trust people.

I’m doing great with my potty training routine – the fenced yard really helps with that. I’m also crate trained and sleep peacefully through the night in my crate. I do require a fenced yard in my forever home as I am not leash or recall trained. My foster family has started taking me on leashed walks -and oh boy! I love smelling new things and love our time together.

I am curious about all the things going on in the house and while I may not come up to you for pets just yet, but I do keep an eye out for you when I don’t see you around. I’m just taking my time to figure them out.

I know my journey to trust is a slow one, but I’m making small steps every day. I would love to find a forever home with another dog who can help me gain confidence and show me the ropes. With love, patience, and a safe space, I believe I can become a happy and confident little dog. I just need someone who’s willing to take that journey with me.

*Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal’s bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.
