Bonnie and Clyde’s story started when they were found together as strays and taken to a rural Maryland shelter. The small shelter discovered that they were heartworm positive and could not incur the cost of treatment. Since they would have likely been euthanized, All Shepherd Rescue in Maryland jumped in to help these highly adoptable dogs.
All Shepherd Rescue found a volunteer couple who offered to foster both dogs and Bonnie and Clyde’s fates went in a new happy direction. The story continues a week or two later when it appeared that Bonnie was gaining weight. Before her scheduled ultrasound, she started to deliver her puppies!
Bonnie has been a wonderful mother to her 10 healthy puppies, 6 boys and 4 girls. Her 10 little 7-week-old detectives are all named after our favorite sleuths: Cagney, Lacey, Olivia, Enola, Monk, Starsky, Hutch, Callahan, McLane, and Axel. Beautiful Bonnie will warm your heart with her affectionate nature, which extends to other dogs and cats as well.. Clyde, a happy-go-lucky guy is most likely the father since they were found together. He is great with humans, dogs and cats. He is medium sized at 56 lbs. and has the ideal charming and sweet personality for someone not ready for a standard size GSD.
Clyde has already started his heartworm treatment. Bonnie’s treatment will be delayed until she has completed nursing the puppies. Bonnie and Clyde can be adopted together or separately, and all the puppies will be ready for adoption in mid-November.
