Meet Axel!! This sweet boy was found skinnier than skinny. Axel was all skin and bones when he was found as a stray. They brought him to the shelter and has become a shelter favorite. Axel, is a loving boy who is stilling gaining weight. He will need a family who would like a bigger size dog as he will grow bigger as he gains weight.
Axel is very much food driven, so gaining weight should not be an issue. Axel loves to run around the fenced yard playing with his toys. When he is done playing, he wants to cuddle up with you and snuggle. Axel is a lover!!! He will make fantastic family member. He does also enjoy going for walks with his humans.
We would recommend that he go to some basic training to learn his commands, just because he is a bigger guy and does not know his strength. Again, Axel is a big teddy bear but is also a ham!!! Spay/Neuter All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don’t break with disease.
VETTING NOTE: Fetching Hearts Rescue completely vets our dogs thoroughly to the best of our knowledge based on communication with our Southern Vets. If anything is brought to our attention, we treat the dog. After adopting the dog, you will be responsible for following up with all vetting going forward. HEARTWORM NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartgard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 5-6 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
