But somehow, this 9-month-old Shepherd mix didn’t let that dim his spirit. Instead, he greets everyone he meets with what volunteers call his “Galactic Smile”—a big, joyful grin that’s impossible to resist.

Now safe and waiting, Mars is ready to leave his past behind and blast off into a future filled with love.
