10 Dog-Friendly Restaurants & Cafes in Los Angeles

It’s fun being a dog in Los Angeles.

Warm year-round sunshine and tons of outdoor spaces to explore with your furry friend. From spacious parks to nature trails, beaches, and malls, you will never run out of adventure.

After all the fun and games, there is a wide selection of dog-friendly restaurants with relaxing patios where you can relax and grab a bite with your pup.

I’ve narrowed down the best joints where you can be sure your dog will feel welcome and comfortable and you will have an amazing alfresco dining experience. They all have quality food for people, and some even have an exclusive doggy menu.

Bonus: I’ll tell you how I opened the first-ever restaurant for homeless dogs.

It’s Fido’s day out and you want to give him the royal treatment.

The Morrison has exactly what you and your furry friend need, and it’s one of the first results you’ll get if you search “dog-friendly gastro pub near me” in LA.

Your pup will feel the love right from when you enter as the friendly staff welcome you onto the patio with a bowl of water.

And when it comes to dog meals, this highly ranked dog-friendly restaurant doesn’t hold back.

Their dedicated doggy menu has three different dishes—complete with witty names—each served on a silver platter:

  • Where’s the beef—chopped hamburger beef with rice
  • Cock-a-doodle-doo—chicken with rice
  • Frankenweinie—chopped hot dogs with rice

Since it’s doggo’s day out, he deserves tasty treats after his gourmet meal. The Morrison offers milk-bone treats to crown the feast.

An outdoor restaurant on a warm LA night in the company of your furry friend sounds like an exciting weekend plan.

The King of Tacos, chef Esdras Ochoas, will make your dreams come true at his restaurant, Salazar.

Located next to the LA River, this dog-friendly restaurant features a genius design that combines a casual industrial look with a Mexican theme. The kitchen and indoor bar areas are carved out of a former auto repair shop.

What really sets Salazar apart is its expansive desert-style patio. The scattered wooden tables set under a pergola and the prominent desert plants will transport you to the Sonoran desert.

You’ll love how the ample space between tables allows you to leash your dog comfortably. And if your pup is well-behaved, you can let him scamper around the sprawling grounds and make some new dog friends.

Dogihana – Restaurant for Homeless Dogs

If you’ve been to my YouTube channel, you know how much I love highlighting the stories of rescued dogs to get them their forever homes.

When I finally got the chance to open Dogihana, I knew I had to go all out to get a clean 5-star rating (read: paw-fives, tail wags, and tongues out) from my VIPs.

Most importantly, I hoped to get two of my canine guests, Frank, a partially blind senior dog, and Betty, a Golden Retriever, adopted.

Frank and Betty were accompanied by Cora Rose, an adorable two-legged dog, and Jack-Jack, a Chihuahua.

Dogihana was open for a week—not anymore—as a special treat for rescue dogs.

We had an exciting menu, including:

  • Salad
  • Bone broth miso
  • Shrimp appetizer
  • Chicken fried rice for the main dish
  • Peanut butter matcha ice cream for dessert

The dogs loved it, and we even had more walk-in customers.

See how it all went down:

*Note: this restaurant was only open to for a short time for a select group of rescue dogs.
